The Canon S520 is a bubble jet printer designed
for home use. If the power light on your printer is flashing orange (or gold),
your printer has encountered a problem. The number of times the light flashes
indicates what the problem is. You can diagnose what's wrong with your Canon
S520 printer.
1
Check the paper supply if the light is flashing twice. Two flashes indicates
that the printer may be out of paper or it may have a paper jam. Once the paper
supply is back in order, press the "Resume/Cancel" button.
2
Check
for a paper jam if the light is flashing three times. Once the paper jam is
cleared, press the "Resume/Cancel" button.
3
Check the ink tanks if the light is flashing four times. Four flashes indicates
that one of the ink tanks is empty. Once you have replaced the empty ink tank,
press the "Resume/Cancel" button.
4
Check
that there is a printer head installed if the light is flashing six times. Once
the printer head is correctly installed, press the "Resume/Cancel"
button.
5
Check
that the printer head is installed correctly if the light is flashing seven
times. Remove and reinstall the printer head and check that its protective tape
has been removed. Once the printer head is reinstalled, press the
"Resume/Cancel" button. If the problem persists, replace the printer
head with a new one.
6
Take
your printer to your nearest Canon service center if the light is flashing
eight times. This means that the waste ink tank is almost full and needs to be
emptied. To find your nearest service center, go to the service page listed in
Resources and enter your product information.
